Parks & Recreation

NRPA/USTA Tennis in the Parks
Tennis in the Parks is a strategic initiative designed to assist any community eager to improve and expand opportunities for the public to play tennis. The TIP Initiative has a three-pronged approach.

First, TIP is focused on quality tennis programming from instruction, team tennis and league play to marketing and partnerships.

Second, TIP is focused on making sure that public tennis facility infrastructure is in optimum condition. This is accomplished through facility design and construction manuals and consultations to provide technical assistance as well as the USTA Public Facility Funding program, which covers facility renovation and new construction. (See details below)

Third, TIP is committed to ensuring the sustainability of tennis in the public park sector by developing an advocacy agenda to support master planning to include tennis, mounting bond referendum support for community projects that include tennis and building a network of local tennis advocates eager to reach out to local policy makers about the need and benefits of quality tennis programming and infrastructure.

Tennis is more than a facility and isn?t just an instructional program. The TIP Initiative provides resources that add value to what a community is already doing to improve practice and delivery of quality tennis opportunities. TIP does not just
provide financial support.

This grant opportunity focuses on making sure that public tennis facility infrastructure is in optimum condition. This grant requires an additional, more comprehensive application to be completed, after the online TIP pre-assessment or evaluation/renewal forms have been accepted.

All communities with a complete online TIP pre-assessment or evaluation/renewal form may request a facility funding application. This application will need to be completed and submitted by one of the three deadlines below.
