		<item><title>December 2009</title><description><![CDATA[<A id=Participation name=Participation></A><STRONG><FONT face=Calibri color=#990000 size=5>Tennis Participation Tops 30 Million!<BR></FONT></STRONG><FONT face=Calibri><FONT color=#990000><STRONG>2009 USTA/TIA study shows growth in all age groups and ethnicities.<BR></STRONG></FONT>The USTA and TIA announced that tennis participation in the U.S. topped 30 million players for the first time in more than two decades. The annual survey of 6,000 Americans showed that tennis participation grew in all age groups under the age of 50 and within all ethnicities. With 30.1 million people hitting the courts, tennis participation has grown 12% over 2008 and 25% since 2003. 		<item><title>March 2009</title><description><![CDATA[<P><STRONG>Tennis Night In America: A Huge Success</STRONG></P>
<P>The inaugural champion of the BNP Paribas Showdown for the Billie Jean King Cup was Serena Williams, who downed her sister, Venus, in the final of the event on March 2 at Madison Square Garden. However, it was the sport of tennis that may have come away the biggest victor, as the USTA’s Tennis Night in America resulted in hundreds of events around the country promoting the sport.</P>

<P>More than 750 tennis clubs and parks participated in the evening’s festivities, with most of them kicking off the sign up period for USTA summer leagues and classes with National Youth Registration Night events. Fans around the country tuned into the action as HBO offered live coverage of the matches from New York City.
